Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the prestigious cup on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

However, Marseille struck twice in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital equaliser in the final moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
